In the reference letter cited, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT). initiated STARS (Support The Advancement of Rural Students) Scheme in 2008, which aims to provide equal opportunities to pursue quality higher education for the top scorers from Rural Government Higher Secondary Schools for Boys and girls from 36 districts of Tamil Nadu (except Chennai). The VIT STARS Scheme scholarship provides 100% fee waiver and 100% exemption from hostel and mess fees for 72 Students (one Boy and one girl from 36 Districts (except Chennai) for top scores in Rural Government Higher Secondary schools. Special Features:
• Skill Training on English Language proficiency, computer literacy,
communication and personality development etc.
• Counseling to the VIT STARS students and Special classes by experienced faulty members.
• Facilitation of campus recruitment.
In this connection, for the academic year, 2020-21, all Chief Educational Officers are requested to send district wise list of 20 good performers with P/C/M Marks (Ten Boys and Ten Girls) among Rural Government Higher Secondary Schools (except Chennai).
