The UGC has advised Central Universities that admission should take place only on the basis of entrance examination mark. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked the Central Universities to ‘admit students in undergraduate courses only on the basis of Public University Entrance Test (CUET) score’. ‘Student admission to various undergraduate courses offered at 45 Central Universities across the country should be based on the Public University Entrance Examination score rather than on the basis of Plus 2 marks.

In it, the UGC announced last month that the minimum qualifying score for students could be set by the respective universities. This has been opposed by various organizations and political parties. They complained that this would create a situation where poor students could not get admission in central universities. In the face of such protests, the UGC has reiterated that ‘admission should be conducted on the basis of entrance examination score only’.

In a letter to all Central University Associates, UGC Secretary Rajneesh Jain said:

Rajneesh Jain, however, said that additional qualifying procedures can be followed in admission to some undergraduate courses based on activity including fine arts, dance, sports and physical education. The National Examinations Agency (NDA), which administers the CEED entrance exam, said that the CUED entrance exam would provide a one-window admission opportunity for students seeking admission in central universities. It is to be noted that this entrance examination will be conducted on computer basis (CPD) நுழைவு தேர்வு மார்க் அடிப்படையில் மட்டுமே மாணவர் சேர்க்கை நடைபெற வேண்டும் என்று மத்திய பல்கலைக்கழகங்களுக்கு யுஜிசி அறிவுறுத்தியுள்ளது. ‘இளநிலை பட்ட படிப்புகளில் மாணவர் சேர்க்கையை பொது பல்கலைக்கழக நுழைவு தேர்வு (சியுஇடி) மதிப்பெண் அடிப்படையில் மட்டுமே நடத்த வேண்டும்’ என்று மத்திய பல்கலைக்கழகங்களை பல்கலைக்கழக மானிய குழு (யுஜிசி) கேட்டு கொண்டுள்ளது. ‘நாடு முழுவதும் உள்ள 45 மத்திய பல்கலைக்கழகங்களில் வழங்கப்படும் பல்வேறு இளநிலை பட்ட படிப்புகளில் மாணவர் சேர்க்கையானது பிளஸ் 2 மதிப்பெண் அடிப்படையில் அல்லாமல் பொது பல்கலைக்கழக நுழைவு தேர்வு மதிப்பெண் அடிப்படையில் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட வேண்டும்.

அதில், மாணவர்களுக்கான குறைந்தபட்ச தகுதி மதிப்பெண்ணை அந்தந்த பல்கலைக்கழகங்களே நிர்ணயித்து கொள்ளலாம்’ என்று யுஜிசி கடந்த மாதம் அறிவிப்பு வெளியிட்டது. இதற்கு பல்வேறு அமைப்புகளும், அரசியல் கட்சிகளும் எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்து வருகின்றன. ஏழை மாணவர்கள் மத்திய பல்கலைக்கழகங்களில் சேர்க்கை பெற முடியாத நிலையை இது உருவாக்கும் என அவர்கள் புகார் தெரிவித்தனர். இதுபோன்று எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்து வரும் சூழலில், ‘நுழைவு தேர்வு மதிப்பெண் அடிப்படையில் மட்டுமே சேர்க்கை நடத்தப்பட வேண்டும்’ என்று யுஜிசி மீண்டும் தெளிவுபடுத்தியுள்ளது. இதுதொடர்பாக அனைத்து மத்திய பல்கலைக்கழக துணைவேந்தர்களுக்கும் யுஜிசி செயலர் ரஜ்னீஷ் ஜெயின் எழுதியுள்ள கடிதத்தில் கூறியிருப்பதாவது: மத்திய பல்கலைக்கழகங்கள் மற்றும் அதன் கீழ் இயங்கும் கல்லூரிகளில் வழங்கப்படும் இளநிலை பட்ட படிப்புகளில் மாணவர் சேர்க்கையானது சியுஇடி மதிப்பெண் அடிப்படையில் மட்டுமே மேற்கொள்ளப்பட வேண்டும் என்று இதன் மூலம் தெளிவுபடுத்தப்படுகிறது.

இருந்தபோதும், நுண் கலை, நாட்டியம் உள்ளிட்ட நிகழ் கலை, விளையாட்டு, உடற்கல்வி உள்ளிட்ட செயல்பாடு அடிப்படையிலான சில இளநிலை பட்ட படிப்புகளுக்கான சேர்க்கையில் கூடுதல் தகுதி நடைமுறைகளை பின்பற்றி கொள்ளலாம் என்று ரஜ்னீஷ் ஜெயின் தெரிவித்துள்ளாா். மத்திய பல்கலைக்கழகங்களில் சேர்க்கை பெற விரும்பும் மாணவர்களுக்கு சியுஇடி நுழைவு தேர்வு ஒற்றை சாளர சேர்க்கை வாய்ப்பை ஏற்ப்படுத்தி தரும்’ என்று அந்த நுழைவுத் தேர்வை நடத்தும் தேசிய தேர்வுகள் முகமை (என்டிஏ) சார்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. இந்த நுழைவுத் தேர்வு கணினி அடிப்படையில் (சிபிடி) நடத்தப்படும் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது
