You may recall that my beloved leader Hon. PuratchiThalaiviAmma, the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu had consistently objected to the introduction of a National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for medical courses from the beginning.
During the year 2011, when the Government of India decided to introduce National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Examination for admission to Undergraduate and Post Graduate Medical Courses, a strong protest was made by Hon. Amma, the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, by way of writing a letter to the then Hon. Prime Minister of India. Subsequently, when a Gazette notification was issued by the Government of India during the year 2012, Hon. Amma registered strong objection of the Government of Tamil Nadu which remained the stand of Hon. Amma till her last breath. would also like to point out here that Hon. Amma took number of I steps starting from 2005 towards systematising the admission process to medical colleges including abolition of entrance examinations by enacting the Tamil Nadu Regulation of Admission in Professional Courses Act, 2006.
