தமிழகத்தில் அரசு உயர்நிலை,மேல்நிலைப் பள்ளிகளில் உயர்தொழில்நுட்ப ஆய்வகங்கள் (ஹைடெக் லேப்) அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இந்த ஆய்வகங்களில் கற்றல், கற்பித்தல் பணிக்காக 10 முதல் 20 கணினிகள் மற்றும்புரொஜெக்டர்கள் நிறுவப்பட்டுள்ளன. அவை ஒருங்கிணைந்த பிராட்பேண்ட் இணைய சேவை மூலம் இணைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. ஆனால், அந்த சேவையில் இணைய வேகம் குறைவாக இருந்ததால் ஆய்வகங்களின் பயன்பாடும் குறைந்தது. இதை சரிசெய்ய அரசுப் பள்ளிகளில் 100 எம்பிபிஎஸ் வேகம் கொண்ட பிராட்பேண்ட் இணையதள சேவையை அமைத்துக் கொள்வதற்கு பள்ளிக்கல்வித் துறை அனுமதி வழங்கியது. இதுதவிர மாநிலம் முழுவதும் உள்ள சுமார் 28,000 அரசு தொடக்க, நடுநிலைப் பள்ளிகளில் ஸ்மார்ட் வகுப்பறைகள், கணினி ஆய்வகம் அமைக்கும் பணிகள் தற்போது நடைபெற்று வருகின்றன. இதற்காக அனைத்து தொடக்க, நடுநிலைப் பள்ளிகளிலும் இணையதள வசதிகள் ஏற்படுத்தப்பட உள்ளன. இந்த பள்ளிகளிலும் 100எம்பிபிஎஸ் வேகம் கொண்ட பிராட்பேண்ட் இணைப்பை அதிகபட்சம் ரூ.1,500 கட்டணத்துக்குள் நிறுவிக் கொள்ளலாம். அதற்கான தொகை பள்ளி மேலாண்மைக் குழுவுக்கு அனுப்பப்படும் என்றுஅரசு சார்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.
