School Education -National Deworming Day 2020 - Three Sub: Rounds from September 14th to 28th September 2020 and Mop up Day on 28th September 2020 - Instructions for Teachers – Reg.

With reference to the above letters Cited above, this is to inform that National Deworming Day 2020 has been proposed to be conducted in three rounds from 14th September 2020 to 28th September 2020, through all HSCs/ICDS centres as follows: 1st Round 14.09.2020 to 19.09.2020 4 Days-Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
2nd Round 21.09.2020 to 26.09.2020 4 Days-Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Mop-up Round 28.09.2020 1 Day-Monday
The objective of the National Deworming Day is to deworm all preschool and school-age children (enrolled and non-enrolled) between the ages of 1-19 Years of age group through the platform of schools and Anganwadi centers in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.
However this year amid COVID-19 pandemic, implementation of National Deworming Day (NDD) August 2020 round through the platforms of schools across the country may not be possible. Presently, based on various recommendations of experts, NDD program has to be continued to keep people safe, maintain continuity of deworming efforts in the country while ensuring an effective response to COVID-19. In this connection to the above, the following role has been assigned for the School Education Department:
• All Teachers at Government and Government Aided schools should be involved in the programme (if available). The Class teacher may visit the session site (Nearby AWC) during the Campaign.
• Drug should be consumed under the supervision of Teachers wherever applicable.
• The Class Teacher should ensure the intake of Albendazole tablets by the school children over phone.
• Atleast 30 minutes waiting period to be used for group counseling about the benefit of NDD drug and avoid individual counseling.
Hence, all the Chief Educational officers and District Educational Officers are directed to communicate necessary instructions to all types of Government and Government Aided Schools to coordinate along with HSCs/ICDS department for the conduction of National Deworming Day Programme from 14th September 2020 to 28th September 2020.
Moreover, all types of Government and Government Aided School teachers may have to be instructed to follow the above mentioned assigned role to conduct the National Deworming Day 2020 from 14th September 2020 to 28th September 2020.
