ORDERS BY THE GOVERNOR: MANIPUR Imphal, the 26th September, 2023
No.H-3607/4/2022-HD-HD: In view of the prevailing law and order situation in the State of Manipur, the State Government views very seriously with utmost sensitivity the reported spread of disinformation, false rumours and other types of violent activities through various social media platform such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. on electronic equipments like tablet, computer, mobile phone etc and sending bulk SMS likely facilitating and/or mobilization of mobs of agitators and demonstrators, which may cause loss of life and/or damage to public/private property or aggravates the law and order situation in the State.
2. The State Government decides to suspend/curb the mobile internet data services, internet/data services through VPN in the territorial jurisdiction of the State of Manipur for 5(five) days with immediate effect till 7:45 PM of 01-10-2023.
3. Now, therefore, under the power conferred under Rule 2 of Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017, having satisfied the above situation, the Governor of Manpur is pleased to order suspension/curbing of mobile internet data services, internet/data services through VPN in the territorial jurisdiction of the State of Manipur for 5 (five) days till 7:45 PM of 01-10-2023 subject to confirmation by the Competent Authority within 24 hours and the same will be reviewed before the expiry of the orders. 4. The order is being passed ex-parte in view of the emergent situation. It shall be published for the information of public through press and electronic media.
5. This is issued after obtaining approval of the Competent Authority with immediate effect. All concerned are directed to comply with the orders.
6. Any person found guilty for violation of aforesaid orders will be liable for legal action.
