I want to bring it to your notice that the Government is keen to establish burial grounds and crematoriums, which would be clean and tidy and would not put the already bereaved people into inconvenience. The crematoriums are maintained well and there are no issues.
However, the burial grounds and burning ghats in many places are not properly maintained and lack even basic amenities. This is more particular in the urban areas where large number of deaths takes place. You can create 'green burial grounds' by constructing compound walls, planting flowering shrubs and trees, providing water facilities and shed for the people to squat. You may also utilize the service of the service organizations and the corporate sector in your area to provide these facilities. This would certainly improve the overall ambiance of the burial grounds and burning ghats and give relief to the people who accompany the departed souls. You may create an ideal burial ground of its kind in your district and motivate others to replicate it. This will go a long way in enhancing the image of both urban local bodies and rural local bodies.
