Establishment Public Works Department Formation of a separate GENERAL UNIT in the office of the Engineer-in-Chief (Buildings) & Chief Engineer (Buildings), Chennai Region, Public Works Department, Chepauk, Chennai to deal with all establishment matters of Public Works Department - Orders - Issued.
Public Works (D2) Department - G.O. (Ms) No.100 - Dated: 23.06.2021 ORDER:
1. In the Government Order first read above, among others, orders have been issued for the functioning of Water Resources Department and Public Works Department as two separate departments.
2. In the Government Order second read above, among others, the subject relating to Water Resources Department has been allocated to the Hon'ble Minister for Water Resources and the subject relating to Public Works Department has been allocated to the Hon'ble Minister for Public Works.
3. At present the Engineer-in-Chief, Water Resources Department and Chief Engineer (General), Public Works Department, Chepauk, Chennai is dealing with all the establishment matters of Water Resources Department and Public Works Department. Consequent on formation of two separate Departments viz., Water Resources Department and Public Works Department, there is a need to delegate the powers in respect of establishment matters of Public Works Department, Buildings Organisation to the Engineer-in-Chief (Buildings) & Chief Engineer (Buildings), Chennai Region, Public Works Department, Chepauk, Chennai. 4. The Government, after careful consideration, issue the following orders:
(1) A separate GENERAL UNIT shall be formed in the office of the Engineer-in-Chief (Buildings) & Chief Engineer (Buildings), Chennai Region, Public Works Department, Chepauk, Chennai to deal with all establishment matters of Public Works Department viz., Recruitment, Preparation of Estimate of vacancy, Panel proposals, Promotions, Transfer and Postings, Pay fixation, Disciplinary matters, Retirement, Pension proposals, as per the provisions of existing Statutory Acts and Rules.
